Earlier this month, the Rotary Club of Chichester Priory, involving nine of its members, worked with Bishop Luffa School to give our Year 10 students the opportunity to receive some interview coaching and guidance, with the support of leading employers in the area. Thirty-three professionals from eight organisations such as Lewis Brownlee, Chichester Festival Theatre, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd, John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, Chichester District Council, The Sussex Pub Company and Irwin Mitchell Solicitors contributed their valuable time to the project.
The students who had little or no experience of interviews gained enormously in confidence following a difficult period during the pandemic.
Mr Hindman said, “This was a really positive result and our students benefited from growing confidence and knowing what to do in an interview”. One of our Year 10 students commented, “It was really helpful to have the opportunity to find out what is like to undertake an interview and the sorts of questions that are likely to be asked. It will certainly help me in the future when I start having job interviews.”
The team from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd were delighted to support the mock interview and CV review session at Bishop Luffa school, meeting some interesting and passionate students and sharing some tips for interviews in the future. Dale Rooks, Director of Learning & Participation at Chichester Festival Theatre and a Governor at the school was also delighted to be involved, "‘We are completely thrilled to be supporting the inspiring young people at Bishop Luffa School. It was a total delight to interview them and to hear their aspirations for the future as well as the diverse range of careers that interest them".
Our thanks go to the Rotary Club for all their support.
