We have some amazing students at our school. Here are some of their sporting highlights over the last few weeks:
Congratulations to Cameron McLeod (8King), James Pollard (12Burrows), Tom Bissat (12Burrows) and ex Bishop Luffa student Cody Jackson who won the National Inter Club Championships at Pines golf course in Lincolnshire against a golf club from Wales. https://www.goodwood.com/golf/latest-news/jtg-nations-championships/ https://www.pressreader.com/uk/chichester-observer/20220505/282406992930200
Well done to Ellie Crawley (8King) who in a recent gymnastics competition came first place on the beam, third on the vault and came second overall.
Congratulations to Summer Cheesman (10Burrows) who competed at the Synchronised Skating British Championships (The Britannia Cup) in Sheffield in two teams, coming home with the gold and the title of British Champion, which makes Summer a double British Champion.
It has been a busy half term of sport with many of our teams experiencing success. In the Sussex School Games Sports Hall Athletics finals, Year 8 girls finished 2nd, year 8 boys and year 7 girls finishing 5th; Year 7 boys street cricket team and year 7 boys and girls super 6 athletics teams have qualified for the School Games Finals in June at the K2 Arena.
After a false start with the Track and Field Athletics Cup the year 7 and 8 boys team finished 2nd in their county heat and look likely to narrowly miss out on qualifying for the regional next round. Whilst the year 7 and 8 girls finished 5th in their county heat.
Next half term we look forward to sports day, inter house rounders and cricket, super 6 athletics competitions for year 8 and 9, tennis fixtures continuing, our annual cricket match against the MCC, girls county cricket competitions, as well as trips to Wimbledon, Eastbourne and Sussex CC. For more details about how to get involved speak to your class teacher and read the sports bulletin.
