We are delighted to report the fantastic success that Alicia Witch (10Ridgeway) and Jess Jameson (11Burrows) had with their dance team from the Samantha Jane Dance Company (SJDC) during the summer holidays.
Alicia and Jess represented England after auditioning for the team back in 2020. Covid delayed the Finals and it finally went ahead in Telford in August. This is the first time that they have entered the Dance World Championships against 62 other countries from around the world, and te standard was incredible.
The team entered two dances – a jazz and a contemporary and they won gold medals for both, scoring the highest mark of the day with 97.3% to became World Champions. They were also invited to the final gala which is a celebration of all the gold medal winners, with the chance to showcase their dances to the dance industry.
This is an incredible achievement; not only to represent their country but to come away as World Champions. Well done Alicia and Jess – we are very proud of you.
