Year 8 students spent a sunny day at West Wittering carrying out Geography fieldwork. Students are learning in the classroom about coastal landscapes and their trip enabled them to gain first hand experience and also develop fieldwork techniques. Students were interested in discovering about the different coastal landforms found there and how West Wittering manages the coast to protect it from erosion. They particularly enjoyed working in groups using fieldwork equipment to take measurements across the dunes to investigate Sand Dune Succession. They also thoroughly enjoyed culminating the day creating a sand dune sculpture of everything they had learnt. The sculptures were judged on their creativity, detail and accuracy and showed an impressive understanding. A very successful day out was had by all!
